If you've ever spent an afternoon working with dish scrubber yarn, metallic thread, or anything with a rough texture, you know how quickly your fingers start to pay for it. The Smiling Knitting Ring slips on and takes that friction so you don't have to — letting you actually enjoy the process instead of just pushing through it.
The smile detail isn't just decorative. It's a nod to Ancalls' whole approach to the craft: knitting should feel good, literally and otherwise.
This one came out of an unlikely but obviously right collaboration — a jewelry maker with 25+ years of experience and a knitter with 20+ years in the craft, both thinking hard about what a ring like this actually needs to do. The result is something that works as well as it looks. The brass is flexible enough to bend to fit your finger, whether you've got slender hands or not, and light enough that after a few minutes you'll forget you're wearing it. The open structure keeps air moving around your finger, which turns out to matter a lot on a summer project or a long session.
How to use it: Thread your yarn through the side opening to keep friction off your skin. It'll also hold up to three strands at once and keep them from tangling.
